The highly-anticipated Monaco Grand Prix had to be postponed due to the pandemic in 2020, although it will be reinstated on the Formula One schedule the following year (2021). You may be wondering how best to commemorate its glorious reappearance. With Louis Vuitton made just for you, of course.
The Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) will work with the prestigious French house this year. And to commemorate the commencement of their cooperation, Louis Vuitton has created a crafted trunk that will be used to hold the trophy for the 78th Monaco Grand Prix, which will take place later this month.
After overcoming what is perhaps the most challenging course of the racing season (the tunnel, the uneven terrain, and that iconic hairpin curve), the victor will come onto the podium and be greeted with a trophy that is encased in a monogrammed canvas case. For a brand whose slogan is “success travels in Louis Vuitton,” the move is unquestionably consistent with the brand’s ethos.
Michael Burke, the Chairman, and CEO of Louis Vuitton, was quoted as saying in a public statement that the Formula 1 Grand Prix is the race that every driver hopes to win since it has a top speed of over 190 mph between the rails.
“Today, we are happy to be linked with the championship and to begin creating a piece of history along with you,” said the company’s president.
The vibrant red colour of Monaco’s flag was used in the rendering of the fashion company’s monogram on the trunk, which was crafted at the workshop of the fashion business in Asnières.
A red and white ‘V’ pattern is another allusion to the home’s initials and the actual word ‘victory.’
And, of course, tucked away in the spacious inside of the trunk is that perfect gold trophy, fashioned in the form of the renowned course, complete with all 19 famed twists.
The announcement was made after the thrilling news that the Grand Prix of Monaco in 2021 would have a live audience. To be sure, it’s a limited one, but it’s an indication of the pleasant advancements that are yet to come. If any race should be seen in person, it should be this.
Since 1929, the 3.4-kilometre circuit has been home to the wheels of some of the most legendary racers in the world. Its winding path through the Principality has been mastered by Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton, who brought home the championship in 2019.
The qualifying round will begin on May 20, while the actual race, the Grand Prix, will take effect on May 23. Although we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, we already envision how amazing Hamilton will look when adorned with that deliciously lovely red monogram.
