While it is not the best place in Australia to go skateboarding on the street, the Emerald City is blessed with several excellent skate parks where you can enjoy this pastime.
Containing every conceivable obstacle you can think of, they provide an excellent outlet in which to test your balance, agility and coordination.
Some of these venues are indoor facilities, while others are open-air. But all of them provide different experiences for skaters to enjoy.
Whether you are looking to do a 180, acid drop, dark slide or Ollie, here are 8 of the best skate parks in Sydney.
1. Macquarie Fields Skate Park
Whilst it might not be the most colourful of skate parks in Sydney, there is no denying Macquarie Fields Skate Park has some terrific humps and banks.
It also has a pretty smooth and fairly big section of street incorporated within it too, which means there is plenty of space for you to enjoy yourself.
However, arguably its best feature is its deep bowl which is so pronounced that ladders are required to not only grind down it but also climb up it.
This might provide a challenge for newbies, but if you are quite adept on a board it will provide you with a good bit of fun.

2. Five Dock Skate Park
Possessing some of the coolest concrete bowls you could ever wish to skate on, Five Dock Skate Park is an excellent place to go for your next ride.
Free for people of all ages and skill levels, this park is popular with skateboarders as well as those who ride scooters, BMX and rollerblades.
As well as an excellent street course, the park also has a spine, pool coping, lots of lines and even a loveseat. There are also foot bowls that are 5 and 8 feet deep to keep everyone on top of their game.

3. Sydney Park Skate Park
Situated in Alexandria, the Sydney Park Skate Park is one of the newer skate parks in the city.
If you haven’t been there before it is worth checking out its 3.3-metre flow bowl, which is the largest public one of its kind in Sydney.
The park also has a huge plaza which features a bunch of obstacles like rails, vertical walls, quarter pipes, ledges, stairs and banks that are perfect for technical, street-style tricks.
For beginners, there is also a small bowl which enables them to get to grips with the sport.
On the fringes of the skate park is a very good viewing area. There are also several other seats and trees which offer shade whilst checking out the tricks being performed by the skaters.

4. Korrupt Indoor Skatepark
At some outdoor parks, you sometimes have to curtail your skating activity due to the elements. But the weather doesn’t matter at all when you visit the Korrupt Indoor Skatepark.
Whether it is a blazing hot day, blowing a gale or storming this fabulous facility gives you a safe place to ride around.
Boasting a range of obstacles including a resi box, mini half pipe, foam pit, quarter and street section it provides enough to keep skaters of all skill ranges entertained.
There is even a shop that sells a good selection of merchandising. While group or private lessons are also offered for those who want to brush up on their skills.

5. North Sydney Skate Plaza
Over in Cammeray, the North Sydney Skate Plaza is a popular place for skaters of all levels.
Providing everything you could want in a street park, this is a particularly good place for novices to tackle a selection of grinding bars and edges, as well as a range of angled ramps.
While this cool course provides skaters with lots of fun during the day, it does not have any lights. So this makes night skating much more difficult.

6. Monster Skatepark at Sydney Olympic Park
The Monster Skatepark at Sydney Olympic Park is arguably the most famous of all state parks in the city.
Not least because this is where Justin Bieber spent a lot of his time during his concert performances the last time he visited the Emerald City.
Offering a reliable and trustworthy experience for people of all ages and skill levels, this is a terrific place to visit at night on account of its fabulous lighting.
It also has a half pipe that is as big as anywhere you will find in the city.

7. Bondi Skate Park
No list of the best skate parks in Sydney would be complete without mentioning Bondi Skate Park.
As well as enjoying a fantastic beachside location, the park offers a well-designed course for skaters to enjoy. This includes what is widely considered to be one of the best vert bowls in the whole of Australia. It also has a very tight corner and excellent concrete coping to negotiate.
While the park isn’t a street skate venue in the traditional sense, it still offers lots of fun for those who love to skate. Given its popularity, it is worth coming here early as it does get quite crowded during the middle part of the day.

8. Waterloo Skatepark
Quite a few vert-style skate parks feature on this list. But if you are looking for a good, old-school type street park to hit up, then you should head over to Waterloo Skatepark.
Featuring a host of obstacles, skaters here get to enjoy everything from rails, banks, a mini-ramp and stairs to manual pads, ledges a flat bar and blocks.
If you are new to skating and find this a bit full-on, the park has lots of space for beginners to find their feet and get to grips with the basics.
