The QT Rooftop Bar in Melbourne

For anyone holidaying or living in the world’s most livable city, Melbourne, heading into the QT Rooftop Bar in the CBD for a few drinks and a bite to eat might be your new favourite way to cap off the work day or get things started on the weekend. The bar is one of Melbourne’s most modern and stylish rooftop bars and standing almost forty meters up on the 11th floor, it offers one of the best views of the city skyline available at any bar in Melbourne.

One standout feature of the QT Rooftop Bar on 133 Russell Street, Melbourne is its terrace and quirky laneway aesthetic that’s been elevated into the sky. You’re going to find yourself in a quiet, secluded space that just so happens to be on one of the busiest streets in the second largest Australian city. It’s undoubtedly a leading rooftop bar in Melbourne’s CBD that you’ll love whether you’re staying at QT or not.

The Vibe

One thing to note is that QT Melbourne has a vibe that you’ll not really find anywhere else across the city, at least when compared to other rooftop bars. It’s a sophisticated bar, though it’s rather relaxed and ‘chill’ making it the perfect place for you to come if you’re not feeling like dressing up completely, though still wanting to look nice out on the town.

Keep in mind that there is a strict dress code to keep the bar’s vibe going, so be sure to follow the latest changes and requirements. As of this writing, you’ll need:

  • Closed in shoes
  • Refrain from hats or beanies
  • No tracksuits or dress down outfits.

On the weekends, however, the vibe changes completely and you’ll find that the outdoor space is transformed into a party-type zone with great music, live DJs and a crowd of edgy millennials and Gen Z partygoers. That said, the QT Rooftop Bar is one of Melbourne’s rooftop bars that you absolutely have to make a trip up to see!

The Cocktail Bar and Wine Bar

When it comes to drinks, the QT Rooftop Bar is fantastic and much like many other rooftop bars in Melbourne, it offers an array of exclusive curated cocktails and beers that you’re not going to find anywhere else in the city. We’re sure that the Rooftop G&T is going to be a new group favourite of yours and your friends, so you might find yourself making your way back into the new rooftop bar again and again!

You’ll find the wine list here, below the lunch menu.

The open air makes it easy to take in Melbourne from above and there are no reflective glass windows blocking great selfies and shots of the city below. However, if it does start to rain, the bar has a fantastic retractable awning that ensures no one’s going to get wet!

The Food

Although the rooftop bar stands atop the famous QT Hotels and Resort building, there’s no restaurant or bistro on the top floor. This isn’t too much of an issue though, as being in Melbourne, food isn’t too far away and you’re also able to make your way back into the hotel for food if you’re a guest there. Just be sure to take your QT check-in card with you!

There are a few small nibbles available at the bar, though if you’re more interested in a larger heartier meal, it might be a better option for you to head down to a restaurant in the laneways below or come early for the Asian, Italian and French-style lunch bites and snacks. The lunch menu will certainly be more your taste, especially if you’re staying at the QT Hotel as you’ll be easily able to get your hands on pork belly, oysters, Japanese Wagyu, or simple steaks and fish and chips.

You can find the full QT Melbourne lunch menu here.

Bookings and Reservations

If you’re interested in making a group booking or hiring the venue, you’re able to do this quite easily through the QT Hotels website at qthotelsandresorts.com. The bar is a fantastic space for parties or birthdays and with its unique style, you’ll certainly have plenty of spaces for the perfect Instagram photo  –  which you can post using the hotel’s free wifi if you’re a guest there.
